A wonderful, but frustrating, long weekend here in LaLa Land. Wonderful in that Roz and I are having a great time thanks to our wonderful native guide Mike Yusi, but frustrating in that until last night (Saturday 29 March, 2008), it was the world’s best kept secret, because we were here to attend a surprise birthday party for Mark Yoshimoto-Nemcoff. Mark’s wife Marnie started planning this surprise in March of 2007, and she pulled it off without Mark ever suspecting that he would walk into one of his favorite restaurants and find about a dozen or so friends from all over the U.S. and Canada, some of whom he hadn’t seen in the flesh in 18 years.
The video is priceless. Mark was truly dumbfounded when he walked through the door and we all yelled “Surprise M*%$#@r!” (which we decided on literally 5 seconds before he walked in”. Count how many times he says “Oh My God”)
